چکیده

In this paper we investigate the e®ects of microphone and speaker locations on the performance of active noise control in ducts. We study a so-called \symmetric" con ̄guration in which the collocated performance microphone/control speaker and the collocated measurement microphone/disturbance source pairs are located equidistance from the duct center. By applying an \alignment angle" analysis to a duct model, we show this con ̄guration to be prone to plant-disturbance misalignment. As a result, ampli ̄cation at the measurement microphone and reduced stability margins occur. Stability robustness to modeling uncertainty is improved if the measurement microphone/disturbance source are de-collocated. ¤MIE Department, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA 01003. yECE Department, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA 01003.

A Simple Approach for Determination of Actuator and Sensor Locations in Smart Structures Subjected To the Dynamic Loads

The present work demonstrates the successful application of a simple active vibration control procedure based on structural dynamics. Based on mathematical and structural dynamics’ theories, the appropriate locations of sensor and actuator locations of the smart structure are predicted. Also, the optimum value of actuator force which controls the structural vibrations as quickly as it is possib...

Optimal Locations on Timoshenko Beam with PZT S/A for Suppressing 2Dof Vibration Based on LQR-MOPSO

Neutralization of external stimuli in dynamic systems has the major role in health, life, and function of the system. Today, dynamic systems are exposed to unpredicted factors. If the factors are not considered, it will lead to irreparable damages in energy consumption and manufacturing systems. Continuous systems such as beams, plates, shells, and panels that have many applications in differen...

Active Noise Control in an Aircraft Cabin

In propeller driven aircraft the main source for internal noise are almost tonal disturbances caused by the propeller blades that are passing the fuselage. In a certain four propeller military transport aircraft the maximum sound level in the cabin can reach up to 110 dB(A), not taking into account any noise control treatments. Inside the semi closed loadmaster working station (LMWS) the sound ...

Buckling Analysis of FG Plate with Smart Sensor/Actuator

In this paper, the active buckling control of smart functionally graded (FG) plates using piezoelectric sensor/actuator patches is studied. A simply supported FG rectangular plate which is bonded with piezoelectric rectangular patches on the top and/or the bottom surface(s) as actuators/sensors is considered. When a constant electric charge is imposed, the governing differential equations of mo...

Application of Piezoelectric and Functionally Graded Materials in Designing Electrostatically Actuated Micro Switches

In this research, a functionally graded microbeam bonded with piezoelectric layers is analyzed under electric force. Static and dynamic instability due to the electric actuation is studied because of its importance in micro electro mechanical systems, especially in micro switches. In order to prevent pull-in instability, two piezoelectric layers are used as sensor and actuator. A current amplif...
